Vintage Cole of California Swimsuit dates to 1947, attributed to Margit Fellegi. Black velvet is fashioned into a wonderfully beautiful confection. This suit features an open midriff which is classic for this time period. The top is gathered at the center front with a self fabric velvet tie. The shoulder straps are shirred with elastic as is the back of the suit. The front of the suit is gathered giving a soft drape to the fabric. The front of the suit is lined with a soft nylon. There are two labels present. Cole of California Original and I. Magnin & Co. Importers. There has been some restoration work on both sides of the midriff where the front meets the back. Very light wear to gusset lining. Otherwise this suit is in very good condition. Elastic is still good and the fabric is a rich deep black.
